From Yeovil to Yakutat: First web site order from Alaska!

Just days after the recent launch of its new web site Yeovil based Seaton Automotive, the independent vehicle leasing specialists, secured a new order for a top of the range Mercedes car – from Alaska!

The Alaskan connection was, in fact, an employee of a major cruise line operator, using the internet to research his new car requirement and place an order in advance of his return to Scotland three weeks later.

As Alexander, the ships Security manager explains: “I needed to sort out my new car urgently so I conducted a search on the internet whilst moored in Yakutat and Seaton Automotive came up first.” The whole transaction was completed over the internet, drawing nothing but praise from Alexander: “Despite my initial reservations about faceless online companies, nothing could have been further from the truth – the service was absolutely splendid; very professional, very helpful and above all friendly. I was kept in touch at all times, wherever my location, and my new Mercedes was delivered within days of my arrival back in Scotland. I have to say, I was impressed!”

Account manager for Seaton Automotive, Sally Ives, was delighted with the sale. “Our interactive web site is just one of the marketing initiatives we’ve undertaken this year to promote ourselves within the Yeovil area and the also the south-west region - I was amazed to get one of our very first enquiries from the rugged shores of Alaska. The fact that we were able to complete the order and deliver the car within just a few weeks is proof of the power of the internet, as well as our own systems.”

The customer was supplied his new Mercedes on a Personal Contract Motoring plan, which is particularly convenient for company employees who perhaps have been allocated a ‘car allowance’ to finance their own car. This has the major advantage of enabling the employee to avoid heavy penalisation through the new company car tax regime and is proving increasingly popular.
